Number 1: Contact a REALTOR®. 

In most cases, It’s FREE for buyers to use the services of a REALTOR®. And yes, you should

contact us even if it’s not the time to purchase yet. Now by contacting an agent well in advance to your purchase date, we will be able to educate you on the home buying process and present you with a custom plan based on your unique situation for you to have the ultimate best purchasing experience.

Step 2: Meet with a lender.

Meeting with a lender in advance will allow you the time you need to get your credit in the best possible shape, this is really to get the optimal interest rates and if your credit score needs a little work, a lender can advise you on improving it based on your credit report. For example, action steps may include paying down debt, diversifying the types of credit you use, and paying your bills on time. Now meeting with a lender will also allow you to determine how much purchasing power you will have and how much money you will need to save for the down payment and also what other applicable fees that will be included when you buy a home.

After steps 1 and 2, comes the fun part.

Step Number 3. Explore neighborhoods and communities.

Once you have an idea of your purchase amount, I will give you a list of all applicable communities to explore based on the information I got from you in our initial buyer consultation. Now because while it may not be time to look at homes just yet, it’s a great time to still explore the communities and those neighborhoods, and schools in advance, so that when you are ready, you know exactly where you want to be when it comes time to buy.
